Basic Spoken Arabic

Basic Spoken Arabic introduces middle school students to foundational Arabic using Madinah Arabic Reader Book 1. This course focuses on helping students become comfortable with basic Arabic vocabulary, simple sentence formation, reading practice, and everyday expressions. Students will learn how to identify nouns, pronouns, simple questions, descriptions, and basic conversational phrases. While the course supports Quranic Arabic development, it also gives students practical exposure to spoken Arabic so they can begin using the language in simple real-life settings. Through reading exercises, repetition, speaking practice, and guided classroom activities, students will develop confidence in understanding and using basic Arabic. By the end of the course, students will have a stronger foundation for future Arabic study.

Fall 2026

Qur’ānic Arabic

Qur’ānic Arabic is designed to help middle school students build a meaningful connection with the Qur’ān by helping them understand the language in which it was revealed. This course introduces students to essential Qur’ānic vocabulary covering over 50% of Qur’ānic vocabulary, basic grammar concepts, common phrases, and recurring patterns found throughout the Qur’ān. Students will learn how Arabic words are formed, how simple Qur’ānic sentences are structured, and how recognizing repeated words can help them better understand what they recite and hear in salah. The course focuses on gradual learning, practical examples, and Qur’ān-based exercises rather than overwhelming students with advanced grammar. By the end of the 14 weeks, students will be able to recognize many common Qur’ānic words and begin developing the tools needed for deeper Qur’ān comprehension.
